Gymnastics

Amelia has had a busy couple of weeks! Last week was VBS and this week she has been going to a gymnastics camp every day.  I thought we'd try out the week-long summer program and if she liked it, then we would sign up for the fall class. She has loved it! So we will definitely be signing up for the weekly classes in August. I love that she's getting some exercise, and learning some fun tricks like flipping and walking on the balance beam. I have taken a million pictures of her each day, and lots of videos too. Here are a few videos of her in action.

I think I would have signed her up for the opportunity to wear that leotard alone.

Notice which kid continues to hop and yell after the others have stopped. I wish you could really tell just how loud she was being.

Her buddy Joy was in her class this week. They hadn't seen each other since school got out in May and they were so pumped to reunite! They have done a lot of loving on each other and cheering for each other, but there has also been a little fighting and bossing. Here Mimi is yelling at Joy to get up after she does her trick. What am I going to do with this girl?

Say yes to VBS!

This year was Amelia's first year to get to attend Vacation Bible School at our church. I was so pumped for her because I adored VBS as a child, and I just knew Mimi would love it too. I was correct. At some point in my excitement for Amelia's inaugural VBS summer, I got it in my head that I should take vacation time to volunteer to help. I used to teach VBS at my home church during college, but it met at night. I haven't been able to help at our church since we've been there because they meet during the day. But I really wanted to be the one to get to take Amelia for her first year, and I thought it would be fun to be around while she was there, so I went for it. Now this is the part where I mention that I was assigned to the 4 and 5 year old class. And there were 14 of them. Some of them were very rambunctious. Needless to say, after a week of wrangling that many active kiddos from 8:30 to 12 and then going to work for the rest of the day, I was one tired mama at the end of the week. I think it's a safe bet to say that I will never, ever be a kindergarten teacher. Kudos to anyone who does that every day.

Anyway, Amelia had an absolute blast, and I hope my kids did too. Here are some pics from our week.

Pumped for her first day at VBS. This is the face I get sometimes when I ask her to say cheese. I guess we need to find a new smiley word. Notice her Bible that she insisted on bringing, and her purse that held her "heavy money" to give for her offering.

I peeked in on her class during rec time.

And during snack time

Our theme was Big Apple Adventure. These were my classroom decorations.

A firefighter brought his truck for the kids to see. This was my class.

Floating her boat with Rivers during Wonderful Wacky Wet and Wild Wednesday (or something like that)

Worn out after the last day. Clutching a Bible and the ever-present Lovie.

Getting her certificate from her teacher, Mrs. Veeva during commencement.

So glad Grammy was able to come watch her. Papa had to miss due to commitments at their church.

Amelia had an awesome week learning about the Bible and having fun. I was amazed with what she remembered about their Bible stories when she came home each day. I am so thankful for the opportunity to bring her to Vacation Bible School and that she is learning so much about Jesus at such a young age.
