A few new pics

Well I know the 9 pound weight gain isn't ALL going to my butt, ha. My belly seems to have expanded overnight. Here are a few pics from this past weekend:

I love food!

Several people have been asking me about cravings. I have to say, I haven't really had any ridiculous cravings yet, but I have discovered a new love for food that I didn't know I had! As I mentioned in a previous post, I am usually on some kind of diet, but I would always let myself indulge in my favorites now and then. Lately, I just haven't been able to get full! I should have taken a photo of all the junk food that filled my buggy the last time I bought groceries. I have been enjoying things I never let myself eat under regular circumstances. Below is a list of my current favorite foods:

1. Biscuits (almost every morning)
2. Ice Cream
3. Snow cones (add cream)
4. Pizza
5. Bagel bites pizza (so awesome they deserve a separate spot on the list)
6. Chicken Nuggets
7. French Fries
8. Sweet tea
9. Mexican food
10.Green beans

Apart from the green beans, none of these foods are good for me or my baby! I shouldn't have been surprised when my nurse informed me that I had gained 9 pounds this month! Yikes! First I don't gain anything for 17 weeks, then it's 7 one month and 9 the next! I really am going to start trying to eat better, but lately all I have wanted is junk. I totally deserve each and every pound I've gained. I have really been enjoying myself lately, ha.

Everything was good at my appointment yesterday, including my weight gain. I am up 16 pounds, thanks to morning sickness- who knows how much I would weigh now if I hadn't been sick in the beginning. I have been feeling Amelia kick a lot more lately and Cliff has even been able to feel it a lot now. We went to see the new Batman movie last weekend and I don't know if she liked or hated the loud noises, but she was jumping around the whole time.

We have everything in the nursery now except the changer/dresser, which should come in in the next few weeks. I am going to hold off on buying lots of cute accessories because I am having a few showers and will probably get some of those things then. Some call this stage of pregnancy the boring part. I guess I can understand that. There isn't a lot to look forward to now, other than just waiting for her to arrive. But I am still feeling great and feeling very blessed everyday to be having a healthy pregnancy and baby so far.

I go back in a few weeks for another checkup where they will do a glucose tolerance screening and another ultrasound. I am paying extra to have the 4D ultrasound. I can't wait to see our sweet girl again and to share the pics with all of you!

Things NEVER to say to a pregnant woman

This may be the first of many installments as I still have plenty of time for people to say rude things to me, but I have already learned that people can be so rude when it comes to pregnant bellies! It's like people think they have the right to say anything they want to you just because you are pregnant. Well just to give a refresher to some of you who may catch yourself saying things like this to a pregnant woman, try to avoid these:

1. When are you due? Wow, you are going to be HUGE by then!
2. Are you having twins?
3. You sure picked a horrible time to get pregnant. You are going to be miserable by the end of the summer.
4. Your feet must be miserable in those heels. You better stop wearing them or you are going to have knee trouble.
5. Don't get a pedicure. It will make you go into preterm labor.
6. Oh, I hope you wait a week after your due date to have her. That's my cousin's friend's birthday.

As you can, see some of these comments are obviously offensive and some are just annoying to me. We had new student orientation today at work and several people who haven't seen me in a few weeks felt the need to make comments such as these to me today. My response to all of these comments has been to smile politely and say something nice, but here's what I really wanted to say to these people.

1. Wow, thanks. I'm pregnant. Why are you so fat?
2. No, I am not having twins. And contrary to what you may think, this is what you are supposed to look like at 6 months pregnant. Ask everyone on the online message board I read just to make sure I'm normal. We all look the same. My belly is actually smaller than some of theirs.
3. Um, my first pregnancy ended in miscarriage. I thought I'd leave it up to God on when I would get pregnant again.
4. My feet feel just fine in these heels and as soon as they do not, I will stop wearing them. I am not so vain that I will endanger my health or the health of my child just to wear them. They are fabulous and make me feel a little bit fabulous, so I will wear them as long as I can.
5. My doctor said it's perfectly fine for me to get a pedicure, so I will only be following her advise, not that of someone who not only doesn't have children, but who also did not go to medical school. I won't be getting the deep tissue foot massage, just letting someone paint my toenails before people start telling me how terrible they look. It already hurts to bend down that far.
6. Oh, what a great idea! I'll ask my doctor if they can push the baby back in so she can be born on your cousin's friend's birthday!

Luckily, I haven't actually responded with these comments yet, but check back in a few months and I just might start getting snippy! Below are the only acceptable comments to make to a pregnant woman:

1. When are you due? Wow, you look so great!
2. You look fabulous!
3. You are just glowing!
4. Pregnancy agrees with you, you look beautiful.

These are actual comments that have been made to me, so some people do know the right things to say. But I am still surprised that so many women, mothers even, have the nerve to say such rude things to people. Tune in next time for the next episode of What Not to Say. I'm sure I'll have more to add to the list!

As promised- a few pics

I finally got around to putting batteries in my camera to take a few pics. Of course I chose the night that I had no makeup on and was hanging out in my loungy clothes, but you get the idea! The nursery is coming along. We're going to Jackson this weekend to pick out a rocking chair, and we're waiting for the armoire and dresser/changer to come in. Then I get to play with curtains and accessories, my favorite part.

I'm feeling pretty good these days. Of course the Mississippi heat isn't easy, but it's hard for everyone! I hate hearing pregnant women complain all the time. Sure it's uncomfortable at times, and I'm sure I will be pretty miserable by the end of the summer and beginning of fall, but hello, look what you get in return! I guess I am a little more grateful after going through a loss, but I just think about how many women would give anything to get to experience the misery I'm going through right now. I have been overdoing it a little lately. I'll think I have all this energy to do stuff and then I have to just crash, ha. We took the youth from our church bowling the other night and I am paying for it now! I used a really light ball, but now my arms and back are sore from the physical activity my body isn't used to. I'm going to take it a little easier from now on.

More pics to come later!

Quick Update

Not a lot of new stuff going on but I still wanted to update. My appointment last week went well. I am finally gaining weight! Seven pounds in one month! Yikes! Gotta lay off the Snickers! My doctor wasn't worried. She said it was perfectly normal and mine just crept up in the same month. Still, it was quite a shock to hear 7 pounds!

We are still working on the nursery. After looking over tons of paint samples, I finally picked out paint, and Cliff is in the process of painting now. We have the crib and bedding in, and are waiting for some of the other furniture to arrive. It is under construction and looks pretty messy right now, but I promise to take a pic when it looks presentable.

And for those who have been asking for me to take a pregnancy pic, I am sorry to be such a slacker! I will post this one of my friend Misti and me from her baby shower Sunday. She is about 10 weeks ahead of me. It scares me to wonder what I will look like in 10 more weeks!
