Shower #2

Yay for more baby showers! Yesterday, our sweet church family gave us a shower, and we got lots more pretty things for Amelia. She has even more jewelry now, plus several precious blankets, a couple of diaper bags and tons of adorable outfits! We also got a few useful items like diapers, a wipe warmer, diaper champ and bottle warmer, plus her very first pacis! I think babies are so cute with pacifiers in their mouths, but I hope Amelia doesn't love hers as much as her daddy did when he was a baby. It was quite a traumatic experience for his parents to take it away, ha. I was a total slacker and forgot to ask anyone to take a pic of me at the shower, so all I have is the one sitting at the table stuffing my face.
Thanks to Erin for taking some pics, and thanks to all our church friends who came and brought gifts. Aunt Katie came even though she was feeling sick and Grandma Kathy (still don't know what you want to be called!) made her second shower appearance of the season. Can't wait to dress Amelia up in all those cute little outfits!
We'll have a weekend off this week before showers #3 and #4 next weekend and then the last one will be the weekend after that at my home church. Whew! I am getting tired thinking about it, but I will never be too tired to open presents! We are just so grateful for so many people who want to share in our joy and want to spoil our baby already.
Nursery pics coming up soon. Curtains will be hung this week and then we'll just have to put some art on the walls and then it will be complete. It is finally looking like a baby lives there now!

Not pregnancy related but still funny

These are from a website called www.yearbookyourself.com. It lets you put your face on yearbook photos throughout the years. We've all been playing with it at work (in between assisting students, of course) and it has had us laughing all day. Just had to share some of my favorites with you guys. The last pic is from 1990 and the sad thing is, I actually did wear my hair like this!

32 weeks!

What a tricky thing it is to calculate weeks/months in pregnancy. People ask how far along I am and it sounds like 8 months when I tell them I am 32 weeks. But then they think I only have a month left, so it's a little misleading. I just tell people I have 8 weeks left, ha. Pregnancy actually lasts 40 weeks = 10 months. Ugh. Why does this fact get hidden and people think it's only 9 months?

I went to the dr. today and everything was good as usual. I have really been so fortunate to have had an uneventful pregnancy so far, healthwise. Now when I go to the dr, we spend time chatting about her kids and my job since I am pretty much out of silly questions to ask her! Here's some fun news: Today we discussed how I feel about induction as opposed to "waiting it out." I've thought a lot about this and done research on it, and the planner in me is all for inducing. It is pretty common-place these days, and I like the idea of getting to know when I will be going to the hospital to have Amelia. Dr. Gray talked about inducing me when I am 39 weeks if all continues to go well with mine and baby's health, which would be sometime after Oct. 29. That's only 7 weeks away! This will be more convenient for Coach Furr, since his first game is November 8, ha. He was afraid he would have to miss it if the baby came a little late.

Of course everyone knows that babies can come on their own time table, so we can't plan too far ahead for Miss Amelia. But I am so excited to know that it shouldn't be more than 7 weeks until I can finally see our precious girl's face!

My first baby shower

Baby showers are so much fun! I have always loved hosting and attending baby showers, so I was super excited for my first shower Saturday. I am so overwhelmed by the kindness of my sweet family! The hostesses really outdid themselves with everything and all my aunts and cousins made the effort to be there. It meant so much to us!

Amelia got lots of cute outfits and accessories, plus we got several useful items like diapers, wipes, medicines, bath stuff, a bouncer, a car seat, a stroller and a swing! Oh, and I can't leave out the ottoman Mama got that matches my rocker. It will make feeding and rocking so much more comfortable. Amelia is now the owner of not one, but two pearl bracelets, as well as a cowboy hat and boots and a Wolfpack cheerleader suit. I had so much fun showing everything to Cliff and organizing it all when I got home!

Thanks to Mandy and Tess for all their work planning everything, and thanks to all my family members who came. I love you all and can't wait to take pics of Amelia in all the cute outfits you got her!

Below are a couple of pics of the yummy food and all the presents, plus a shot of Janie and Josie digging into the cake with their hands afterwards.
