Two months old

My tired girl is still napping after I posted Christmas photos, so I'll try to do an update while I have a few minutes. Who knows when I will get another chance!

Today we went to our two-month check-up and had to get the dreaded shots. Amelia was so good. She only cried for a minute and calmed down when I picked her up. I held up pretty well too! I only teared up for a second. We were eager to see how much she had grown since the last time we were there for her 2 week check-up. She is now up to 11 pounds, 13 ounces and is 23 1/2 inches long! The doctor says she is tall and thin. She is in the 75th percentile in weight and the 90th in length. That means she's taller than 90 percent of girls her age and weighs more than 75 percent. We were assured that she is healthy as can be! We are so fortunate to have had such a healthy baby so far. It makes being cooped up in the house for so long seem worth it. Although I'm sure we'll experience sickness as soon as I have to go back to work and she goes to daycare.

Amelia has been growing and changing so much in the last couple of weeks. Her smiles are getting much more frequent and she responds with coos when you talk to her. I've been trying to capture it on video, but haven't had much luck. She is happiest in the morning after her bottle, and in the late evenings before bed. She also loves to be on the changing table and to take baths. She is still doing well sleeping through the night in her bassinet, although she usually wakes up at 5:30 or 6 and wants to snuggle with us in bed and go back to sleep for a couple of hours before we get up and have our morning bottle. I am so glad we are finally in a routine. I am a creature of routine and it has been difficult to live at the mercy of Amelia! Of course I am still her servant, night and day, but at least she is a little more predictable.

Here are a few more recent photos.

8 weeks old- after a fun bath: 8 weeks- chilling out on the boppy :8 1/2 weeks. Katie took this sweet one. I love it. Cliff likes it because it's a rare photo without a bow, ha. Look at those precious lips! Another rare photo, posing with Aunt Katie. She is always the one taking pics. This was at Papaw Fred's 80th birthday dinner last night. Fred is so happy to finally have a great grandchild! He calls her a "lap full of sugar."
In the same cute outfit before our doctor visit today. If she had known about those shots, she wouldn't have been in such a happy mood!

She was being so sweet, smiling and cooing at me at home after the doctor visit. I tried to capture it on video, but she started getting sleepy. In the clip, she is cuddling with her favorite gift from Santa, Sally the Seahorse. She likes to snuggle with her and listen to the music in her bassinet at night before going to sleep.

Amelia's first Christmas

Living with a celebrity that everyone wants to meet isn't easy! We have been so busy the last couple of weeks. Here are a few recent photos of Amelia's latest adventures.

We were so excited to finally get to bring her to church. Here she is posing with the girls in our Sunday School class. We teach the college students. They all just love her!

Finally getting to meet one of her many future suitors, Trent. His mom is my friend Courtney. She made him kiss my belly all the time when I was pregnant. She wants Amelia to be her daughter-in-law one day. Isn't Trent a cutie? The strings hanging down are supposed to be tied into a bow. I didn't realize they came untied. She was so good at church. She slept the whole time. I went to Katie's to borrow her scanner for a birthday project for my dad. This is what she was doing with my baby while I was working. Love it!

Here she is hanging around the house on Christmas Eve. She wasn't in a great mood for photos. I was kind of bummed on this day too because it was my first year to miss Christmas at my grandparents' house. I hated to miss seeing my family, but there are so many of us in such close quarters, plus lots of children, and I couldn't risk her getting sick since she didn't have her shots yet. Hopefully she'll get to meet my grandparents soon.

Still sleepy on Christmas morning. Her Christmas pjs say "Mommy's little JOY." She absolutely is!

Look how excited she was to see what Santa brought. Katie took this one with her hanging out with Uncle Chris.
All the activity just wore her out. Almost all my Christmas photos are sleepy ones. Here she is hanging out with Uncle Jeremy and Uncle Justin at my parents' house on Christmas night. I was so tired at this point, I failed to take any more photos. The day after Christmas we went to Laurel to visit Cliff's family. Amelia was still tired from the day before when we crammed in two Christmas celebrations, so lucky for us, she slept the whole way there and back.
Here she is getting to see Nana for the first time since she was born. She thought Aunt Lynne was hilarious. She smiled at her like crazy. She must've thought Aunt Lynne was copying her outfit!
So that's a summary of our Christmas in photos. We are looking forward to the future when we can experience the excitement of Christmas through our sweet little girl!

Merry Christmas!

I have lots of new photos to share with you when I have time, but in the meantime, Amelia wanted to wish you all a merry Christmas! What a wonderful gift she is to us! She makes us appreciate the Greatest Gift, Jesus Christ, even more this year.

As if she needed introducing

Most of you have received an actual birth announcement and Christmas card already, but for those who didn't "make the cut" (ha, sorry, I wish I had funds to send them to everyone I know. Believe me, I tried.), I thought I would post our photos here.

Here's our birth announcement. She was 2 weeks old here. I am already nostalgic for when she was this little!

Here's the Furr Family Christmas card:

Some outtakes from our photo shoot:

She was so sleepy! I was trying to wake her up and Katie snapped some cool pics.
Thought about using this one for the card, but I went with the one with eyes open.

A quick photo shoot at home before going to meet Santa! She was so good. She didn't smile, but she didn't cry, so I consider that a success. I hope we are as lucky when she gets older. I don't have a scanner at home, so I won't be able to post that pic. Boo! Grandparents, aunts and uncles, you will be getting a printed copy. We just love dressing up in Christmas attire! Thanks to Aunt Katie for this precious outfit.

We had to go to the funeral home last week when my great aunt passed away and I took a few photos in our pretty dress. The chair in the nursery is making a good backdrop until she learns to sit up.

Almost captured that smile! Gotta be a little quicker.
Everything was fine until we put on the sweater.
She got to meet her great-great aunts and uncle.

I think she liked Uncle Sonny best. She smiled at him.

Ok, I think that sums up our last couple of weeks! It is going to be sad when I have to go back to work and won't have as much time to take photos every day and share them with you all. I will do my best to keep up with our growing girl. More Christmas photos to come, I'm sure. Uncle Chris and Aunt Kathryn, we're ready to see you soon! Amelia misses you!

At last!

Our sweet girl has slept through the night for 3 nights in a row! At 6 weeks old, I am told this is quite an accomplishment. However, I will not turn into a mom who feels the need to brag about how advanced my child is. But she is for doing this, right? Ha ha. Advanced or not, I'm just loving my hours of uninterrupted sleep! Hope it lasts...

Amelia's first snow!

I couldn't spend much time out in the snow with a 6 week old, so I plopped her outside in her bouncer for just a second to snap a photo. Then we came inside and had some fun in our snow bear outfit under the tree! It was so warm and cozy she fell right asleep!

She's probably going to hate me for this one day but it is just too irresistable!

6 weeks!

Our precious baby is already 6 weeks old! The time just keeps flying by. She is growing and changing every day, as you can see from her pics. I have been dying to see a real smile, not just one of those cute "I have gas, and I'm happy about it" smiles that she's been doing since birth. Finally today I got one! Unfortunately I didn't get a photo of it. She is becoming much more alert during the day and is getting very close to sleeping through the night. We are so blessed to have such a good baby. Although she is a tiny bit spoiled! She just loves to snuggle and be held, which isn't really a problem because I happen to love holding and snuggling with her, and so do lots of other people like her grandparents and aunts and uncles. It does get in the way of some of my household chores sometimes, but the way I see it, she will only be this little for such a short time and this is the only time I will ever be off work this long, so I will hold her as much as we want!

Enjoy a few of our recent photos!

How hilarious is this outfit? Thanks for the hoodie, Aunt Mar and Uncle Justin!
I liked this one:
Taken today on her 6 week birthday. She refused to give me a smile. I think she was depressed because her Papa (my dad) had just left. At least that's what he would have everyone believe.
I let Big Brother Cash hang out inside with us since it was so cold and rainy outside. He wanted to sit right by Amelia's side! I think he's going to be a great playmate for her one day. He's so dark the pic didn't really turn out well without the flash. She looks so tiny beside him!

I'm in the process of getting all our birth announcements and Christmas cards in the mail. I don't want to spoil the surprise by posting the photos, but I will share them soon. In the meantime, here is one from our newborn photo session that we aren't using.

Ok, that should tide you over for a while, Uncle Chris! Ha Ha. Christmas photos coming soon!

My baby loves Britney Spears

One of my favorite times with Amelia is when I rock her and sing to her in the nursery. Mostly I sing sweet songs or my favorite hymns. Cliff sings the Beatles to her. But her absolute favorite is when Mommy sings Madonna and Britney to her! She developed a love for Britney in the womb when I took her to visit Britney's home in Kentwood for her first celeb stalking adventure.

She was so fussy the other day that I decided to sing a little Madonna to soothe her and she was out like a light in seconds! Daddy came in and captured my encore of Britney's "Baby one more time."

She's way more fun than a babydoll

Aunt Katie came over and took a pic of the cutest little present under our tree! As usual, baby girl didn't even wake up. She probably has dreams of photo sessions.
