Easter

We have enjoyed our Easter weekend so much! Friday night Amelia stayed with my parents and Cliff and I went out on a rare date. The next morning we went to pick Amelia up and take her to the Easter egg hunt at my home church. (Sadly, we missed the egg hunt at our own church Wednesday night because I had to go to the funeral home).

Here's Amelia practicing hunting eggs at Grammy and Papa's. She was fascinated with opening the plastic eggs to see what was inside.
Here she is helping herself to some other kids' baskets. You know Mimi, always hoarding.

Almost all of my egg hunting photos look like this. She was just so busy and would not look up to smile at my camera. Yet I still felt I had to take a photo of every single egg she found. You're welcome for me not putting them all on here.

Here she was finding the egg Bro. Chad had hid in his shirt pocket.
Sunday morning checking out her loot from the Easter Bunny. She got a cookie pop, a marshmallow pop, some other assorted candy, bubbles, sidewalk chalk and a set of golf clubs.

I think she was confused here that a cookie was on a lollipop stick. Love that bed head!

We got ready for church as quick as we could and dropped by Memaw and Papaw's house to let them see Mimi in her Easter dress before they left for church.

Funny sidenote: I always, always, get a new dress for myself for Easter Sunday. Ever since I was a kid, Easter Sunday meant new clothes for church and I have a hard time letting go of that even though I'm an adult. So I got a cute dress at the Banana Republic outlet during Spring Break. It was one of those situations when you try on your size and it's a little big, so you get a size smaller, and it's a little tight, but you go for it and convince yourself you can lose a few pounds to fit into it. Well I totally forgot about losing weight and just hung it in the closet until Sunday. Oops. I could actually get it on, but it was totally uncomfortable so I just wore the same dress I wore last Easter. How tragic! I doubt anyone even noticed, of course. I had nursery duty and missed the service anyway. Bummer. But it was fun watching Mimi play with the other kids in the nursery.

Anyway... after church we went to my grandparents' house for lunch and we had another little egg hunt there. Amelia found a few eggs and then decided she was over it. Cliff was having a pollen allergy attack and Mimi was grouchy, so we got out of there pretty quick. Bummer again.

Today was another day off work, so we made the most of it by playing outside with the new chalk and bubbles from the Easter Bunny. I cleaned the house like a mad woman during Amelia's nap and while she went on errands with Cliff and now I'm finally enjoying a quiet, clean house while I blog and watch TV.

I hope you all had a fabulous Easter weekend! I'm so thankful for the time I've had to spend with my family, but I'm even more thankful for the Reason we celebrate.

"The angel said to the women, 'Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here; he has risen, just as he said. Come and see the place where he lay."
Matthew 28:5-6
