10 months!

I have nothing new to say about how fast these months are flying by other than, OMG these months are flying by SO fast! Amelia is now 10 months old. Double digits, people. We've had a great weekend together, and I'll share some pics at the end, but first here's an update on our big girl. At 10 months Amelia:

  • loves to play games like "peek-a-boo" and "i'm gonna get you!" The giggles that we get out her when playing these games, along with tickling her is just about the best sound ever.

  • "talks" all the time. She's been saying ma-ma non-stop for the last several days. The other day she looked right at me, and unprompted to do so, said MA-MA. I'm totally tearing up just writing about it. It delights my soul to hear that precious girl call me mama! She still loves to say "bye-bye," plus "da-da," and her version of "uh-oh!" She adds an extra syllable to it, so it sounds like "uh-uh-oh!" Ha ha. I love it. She can't say "dog" yet, but she leaves off the "do" sound and just says "ga" when she sees Cash, so I think that's her word for him.

  • speaking of Cash, they haven't gotten the chance to know each other very well yet, but they are both fascinated with each other. Amelia loves to sit in her high chair and look out the window at "Ga." He doesn't know he's too big for her to play with right now. He likes to press his face against the dining room window while she's eating.

  • loves to feed herself. She still loves puffs, or as we call them, crunchies. she hasn't really turned down any of the table food we've started giving her. The other day she had some mac and cheese and green beans that my mom cooked and she loved getting to eat the same real food we were eating. She loves it all, so it's hard to say what her favorite is these days, but I think she could probably eat a half gallon of ice cream on her own! She cries when we take finally take it away after giving her a few bites.

  • is crawling more now, and still creeps around furniture. She can stand on her own for several seconds and can even take a step or two unassisted, but she's scared and sits down when she realizes she's not holding onto anything.

  • puts EVERYTHING in her mouth. I make myself a nervous wreck worrying about her choking.

  • is weaning herself from her bottle little by little. She used to never turn down a bottle, but she is down to about three 8 ounce bottles a day now. She often doesn't even finish an 8 ouncer. She usually eats rice or oatmeal cereal for breakfast, or pinches of table food like toast or a biscuit. She eats one to two Stage 2 jars of baby food at lunch and one or two at supper. Now that's she's eating finger foods, she's not polishing off the baby food as much.

  • loves her little friends at school and church. Her BFF at school is Joy, and at church she hangs out with Rivers. She loves her teacher, Ms. Margaret at school and her Sunday School teachers, Ms. Sandra and Ms. Lori. They are all so sweet to her, and we've been so blessed to have the sweetest people who love to take care of our Mimi.

  • is the most playful, funny, silly little goose and just when we think we can't possibly love her any more, somehow we do!
And now a few photos. We went to check out my parents' new camper at the river Saturday, and here's one of the few snaps we took. She loves to pull my hair as hard as she can and burst out laughing when I say "ouch!" She's a little evil about it, ha. She's taking her paci less these days, usually just at bedtime. But at the river, we had to keep shoving it in because she loved to pick up a handful of tiny rocks and put them in her mouth!

Here are a few we took after church today. The grass was wet so we had to do them on the porch.

She took a good nap in the nursery and was so sweet during lunch at Mitchell's. I shared my roll and tomatoes and green beans with her. She was still happy when we got home, so we tried to get a few shots in her sweet dress before nap time.

Photo shoot ended abruptly when she started eating the plants. Got ticked off when Daddy pulled the leaf out of her mouth. He's so mean!

Hope you all have a great week. We're taking a trip to Orange Beach for Labor Day, so I might possibly have a couple of photos to share when we return! Can't wait!

1st "sick baby" visit

Amelia and I were under the weather all weekend so I took her to the dr. yesterday for her first "sick baby" visit. We've been so blessed not to have had to go the the dr. except for her check-ups until now. Our doc said her sniffly nose and cough were probably due to something viral since she passed it on to me, and that there had been several in with the same thing. Dang daycare germs! The weather has been so fabulous and we haven't been able to get out and enjoy it. Boo.

Today I'm not 100% but I'm feeling much better and Mimi was glad to see her friends at school again. We're hoping Daddy will avoid getting it, but his scratchy throat and cloudy head are not promising anything!

She did get weighed at the doctor and she's up to 20 pounds! She celebrated by riding in her brand new big girl car seat! It's still rear-facing for a while, but much more spacious than that carrier was.

No new photos as we've just not been feeling up to it, but hopefully we'll be back to our old bow-wearing and photo taking selves later in the week!

Back to School

Amelia started daycare again this week. I really thought going back would just rock her world since she's been spoiled to hanging out with Daddy, Aunt Katie or Aunt Mare all summer. But she's done surprisingly well so far. Yesterday she whined just a little bit when I handed her to Ms Margaret, but she quickly got over it when she saw that one of her BFFs, Joy was there.

Then today, she tried to jump out of my arms to get down to play with Joy, so that really made me feel better about leaving her. Picking her up is way more fun this year because she actually grins and acts excited to see us when we come in. I picked her up yesterday, but Cliff beat me to it and got her today. He loves being the hero and rescuing her from the church nursery or daycare before me, ha.

Of course I wanted to document our special day with photos yesterday morning, but Amelia was sleepy and wanted to go back to bed. It was just entirely too early for her to be out and about.

I really, really wanted to get a cute shot of her smiling with that backpack on her back, but no such luck. So, I tried again this morning. I wasn't even going to tell y'all it wasn't the real first day of school.

But she wasn't feelin' it. Oh, Mimi, why do you do this to Mommy? Hopefully one day very soon, she will understand the concept of the bribe, and I will be able to get all the cute photos I want.

But in the meantime, this is as good as it gets.

At least we are documenting the memories. If only Lindey could move in with us.

**Special thanks to Aunt Mare for going out of her way to help me find the perfect tiny polka dot backpack. I didn't find what I wanted in Brookhaven, so she went to the mall in Hattiesburg and took photos of all the cute backpacks for me to choose from. She's a kindred spirit who knew how important it was for Amelia to have a precious tiny polka dot backpack to bring to daycare. Mimi and I love you, Aunt Mare! Good luck with starting your last year of nursing school tomorrow!

Hula girls and a wedgie

Yet another weekend filled with birthday parties! It's funny how our weekend activites have changed over the years. For a while we had engagement parties and weddings to attend all the time, then the babies started coming, so there were baby showers, and now it's time to celebrate the birthdays! Yesterday we went to Madelyn's 1st birthday luau. It was such a cute party. Here's Mimi and I with the birthday girl and her mama. Something was obviously fascinating on the ground.
When we got home we had to go right over to J.Parker's party, but first a quick pic of the hula girls together.
J. Parker's party was also adorable, but I was too worn out from our day of partying that I didn't take any pics. I thought Amelia would be exhausted by the time we got home, but instead she was ready to play. So after her bath we played around in her room for a while before putting on pjs. When I saw this, instead of fixing it immediately, I had to laugh and take a picture first.
Ok, I took several pictures.
Have you ever seen a wedgie this cute? It didn't seem to bother Amelia.
Look at those wet curls. I never knew those curls and that booty could bring me so much joy. I'll take birthday parties and playing in a diaper on a Saturday night over bar-hopping any day. Hard to believe her big bash will be here before we know it. Gotta get to planning!

The Fair and Aunt Katie's 30th

The Exchange Club Fair is an annual Brookhaven tradition. It's different from most fairs in that the food and rides are run by volunteers from the community, thus no trashy "carnies." The whole town shows up to eat, let the kids play, and socialize with each other. Last year, when I was stuffing my pregnant face with yummy fair food, we talked about how much fun it would be to bring Amelia, and that day has finally come.

It was super hot, and getting close to her bedtime, so of course her joy isn't evident in the photos I took, but I could tell she loved being there. Here she is on the swings. She wouldn't look at me to get a pic because she wanted to stare at the kid beside her. I couldn't hold up the ride by trying over and over so this was the best I got.

Next she rode the airplanes, and of course had to chew on the wood. I've really had to let go of some of my germaphobe issues since I can't always prevent her from putting everything in her mouth. Finally, we rode the Merry-Go-Round. Cliff got this shot from afar, and even though it's not the best, I'm glad we have documentation of her very first carousel ride. First of many, I am sure.

Then the next night we all went out to Amerigo in Jackson to celebrate Aunt Katie's 30th birthday. It felt a little like my birthday since Amerigo is my very favorite place to eat on earth! Nice choice, Aunt Katie. We were pleased with Amelia's behavior in the restaurant as well.

Megan, Mimi, Katie and me after dinner:

The Furr siblings and the princess. Love this one!

Mimi and the birthday girl. She was over pics at this point.

It was a fun weekend with lots of eating and hanging out with family and friends, the best way to spend it!

Randoms

Waiting with Daddy for Mama to hurry up and get ready for church. She just couldn't wait anymore.Using her little shark teeth to pop the lid off her favorite snack!

We caught her turning it up and pouring them in her mouth and all over herself.

Here she is enjoying her cereal the appropriate way. This was at "dinner on the grounds" at my parents' church Sunday. She also enjoyed some of my Oreo dirt cake, which is all over her face, ha.Last night Cliff's buddy Nick stopped by. Amelia couldn't get enough of him! She has been the same way with Cliff's other friends. She's such a little flirt!

And because we simply can't get enough of this, here's yet another clip of Amelia saying and waving "bye-bye." She says it all the time now, sometimes out of the blue, but usually anytime someone gets up to leave the room or opens the door to leave. It's the most adorable thing ever. We're working on some other words, but "bye" is definitely her favorite thing to say!
